This article examines how the COVID-19 pandemic created social, political, and psychological conditions that may increase vulnerability to radicalization and violent extremism. The authors analyze how crises such as pandemics generate widespread uncertainty, fear, social isolation, economic instability, and distrust in institutions—conditions that extremist groups exploit to spread propaganda and recruit supporters. The article explores how extremist actors use crisis narratives, conspiracy theories, and grievance-based messaging to frame the pandemic as evidence of systemic injustice, government failure, or ideological conflict. It highlights how social isolation, increased online activity, and emotional distress during the pandemic created fertile ground for extremist ideological influence.
